(sunshine and palm trees ... my definition of the perfect vacation)
I'm back from vacation! We had a great time exploring two very different areas of California.
First we went to Carmel, where people look at scenes like this every day ...
And where sunsets look like this ...
And where houses like this sell for, I kid you not, $700,000 which the realtor told us is a steal compared to prices a few years ago and plus, the owners are very motivated.
Then we went to San Francisco, where people look at scenes like this every day ...
And where I nearly got killed riding one of these because I just am not that good at balancing on a thin platform at a 90 degree angle while holding onto a cold metal bar and trying not to fall onto the lap of a stranger who smells suspiciously similar to the hallways in my college dorm ...
And where houses like this sell for approximately a bazillion dollars, which the realtor told us is a steal because just look at that view, from the upstairs bathroom you can see the tip of the Golden Gate bridge on a sunny day. And by the way, the owners are very motivated.
It was fun! But as always, it's nice to be home.

WHAT! You were in San Francisco and didn't tell me? I could have invited you over to my bazillion dollar house without a view and served you Twinkies and Tang (a San Francisco favorite by the way)
Looks like a lovely vacation. Carmel is always stunning...
I'm so not jealous! I went on my own vacation... a place called Serenity. Have you heard of it? :)
Leslie, love the pics especially the sunset. Glad to have you back; been wanting to read more of your blog! :)
Ellie
It all looks fab. Sigh. Glad to see you back. What? You were in San Francisco and didn't tell Amanda? You're not ... you're not ... you're not ... frightened of her, are you?
Amanda: I know, sorry! Next time I'll let you know. I'd love to see your bazillion dollar house! And Twinkies and Tang sounds ... um... interesting.
Ellie: Where is Serenity? I could use some. :)
Wow! Loved that shot of Carmel's rocky cliffs and ocean.
But the cost of living is out of this world.
Nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there?
Thanks for sharing these pix and welcome home!
Fran: To be honest, I was frightened of just about everyone I saw in San Francisco. I kept looking for a young mom dragging her children behind her in cardboard boxes with a 3-legged dog, but I never did spot her. Close, but not quite.
Retired One: Yes, the cost of living is CRAZY! We went to a restaurant overlooking Big Sur and paid $7.75 for a basket of fries!! It was a pretty big basket. But still. Sheesh.
Can't believe you didn't spot me. When I drag my kids around town I dress up my dog as a ballerina. He dances and we make a bit of extra cash to pay our mortgage.
No reason to be frightened of me. Really.
Amanda: Dang! I THOUGHT that was you! What was your dog smoking? He's quite a good dancer.
Lesley, you'll find Serenity at my blog. :) Check it out, let me know how you feel when you found it.
Ellie: Your blog is lovely! You're right, Serenity is there. I'll go back and read more when I have a little time.
:-)
